The reason this exists — and why a well-placed question might just change everything.
I almost named this whole thing Not So Trivial Trivia.
Because honestly — that is exactly what it is.
Trivia sounds trivial. Inconsequential. Something you do when nothing important is happening. But that has NEVER — not even close — been my experience... or desire. In my experience, the right question at the right moment is anything but trivial. It is a match struck in a dark room. It is the thing that gets a conversation started that possibly has wanted to start for years. It is what makes a table full of people who barely know each other suddenly feel like they have known each other forever as they dialog over their answers - and thoughts - to scattered questions.
I have watched it happen hundreds of times. In restaurants where people arrived distracted and left having actually, genuinely talked to each other. In churches where a trivia night turned into the most connected anyone had felt all year. In classrooms where a kid who never raised a hand suddenly knew the answer — and sat a little taller for the rest of the day.

And in a quiet room, beside a chair, where a woman named Joellen — who had been slowly losing the edges of her memory — lit up at a question about something she had always loved. For a moment the fog lifted... gone. And she was just herself again.
THAT is why this exists.
Not to crown the smartest person in the room. Not to compete or impress or prove anything. But to give people an excuse — a warm, joyful, completely accessible excuse — to turn toward each other and be fully, actually, gloriously present together.
The questions are the front bumper. The conversation they unlock is the whole "show."
